The Menswear Designer of the Year Award will be presented to an outstanding Canadian menswear designer who has made a significant creative impact in the Canadian fashion industry.

In 1996 Craig Atkinson established CYC Design Corporation as a production management company focused on exporting North American goods to Japan, where he lived for seven years importing vintage Americana and acting as a sales agent for North American brands. Inspired by Japanese desire for North American fashion and vintage replica product, Atkinson began collaborating with knitting mills in North America to produce proprietary fabrics based on early to mid-1900’s sportswear. Philippe Dubuc

Since his debut in 1993, Philippe Dubuc has had a passion for the dressmaking profession. “I am in a constant evolution with modernism and urban contrasts”, indicates Philippe Dubuc. “The identity of a city begins with its creators and from their free development.” Collaborators from different artistic fields have always inspired the designer. Collaborations such as creating capsule collections for department stores, creating a private collection for the Montreal Jazz Festival, designing costumes for the Ballet Jazz of Montreal and inviting landscape architects to occupy the DUBUC stores.
