The Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent, Fashion Nominees
The Swarovski Emerging Talent of the Year Award for Fashion Design will be presented to an innovative Canadian designer who is emerging as a true creative force in Canadian fashion.
Beaufille was founded by sisters Chloé and Parris Gordon in 2013. After completing their degrees at NSCAD University in Textile and Fashion Design, and Jewelry Design and Metalmithing, the girls combined these disciplines to create an artisinal ready-to-wear and accessories line. The name Beaufille translates to ‘handsome girl’, channelling the brand’s aesthetic and designs which focus on the play between masculine and feminine elements, the combination of hard and soft. From sketch to sample all Beaufille products are made in Canada in the company’s downtown Toronto studio. Matthew Gallagher, an Italian trained designer and illustrator, debuted his eponymous womenswear luxury brand in March 2013 after being scouted by Toronto based designer management company THE COLLECTIONS. Born and raised in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Gallagher embarked on a summer learning experience in New York at the age of 16. Among an experience at Parsons, he completed an internship that summer with Tracy Reese.
